The $499 Dyson DC50 and the $649 Dyson DC41 Animal Complete that we tested had high expectations for the DC40’s performance. Additionally, it had to contend with the equally expensive Oreck Touch Bagless and the $309 (previously $399) Electrolux Precision Brushroll Clean, both of which performed admirably in comparison to the DC40 in the field.
The $309 Electrolux and the $199 Shark Rotator Pro Lift-Away models from other manufacturers performed better than the DC40, but not as well. The Shark performed on par with the DC40 for half the price, while the Electrolux was a top performer. Nevertheless, the DC40 is a good option if you like the Dyson brand but don’t have the money or the desire to spend more than $600. However, you could save money and perform better.
Best of both worlds describes the Dyson DC40 Origin. It has the potent Dyson-built motor you’ve heard so much about, plus it’s lightweight and incredibly simple to use. With just a click of a button, clean anything from hardwood floors to carpeting! You can easily access every crevice in your house thanks to the swiveling ball head. Additionally, this model includes a Dyson DC40 washable pre-filter to safeguard the motor and a Dyson DC40 washable HEPA post filter to place directly behind the Dyson ball.
What Is Dyson Dc40
Dyson DC40 Self-Adjusting HeadWithout pressing a button or switching attachments, the self-adjusting powerhead enables you to move around your home with ease from carpet to hardwood. When cleaning different carpeting, it will also automatically adjust the height so that your brush roll won’t get caught in the fibers while still agitating the carpet and removing embedded dirt.
Dyson DC40 Ball DesignThe DC40 is mounted on a ball, which enables smooth pivoting from any direction. With the Dyson, you have perfect maneuverability throughout your home—no more backtracking or difficult steering.
Need to regularly carry your vacuum up and down stairs? Consider the lightweight capabilities of the Dyson DC40. You won’t have to worry about treating the DC40 gently because it is both lightweight and strong. Additionally, to make transportation much simpler, the dust cup has a handy carry handle.
Dyson DC40 Radial Root CycloneDyson’s radial root cyclonic system separates allergens from the air while maintaining an extremely high level of suction throughout your cleaning. As a result, the DC40 actually exhales air that is cleaner than the air it sucked in, keeping your home fresh and clean on the inside as well as the outside.
The dust cup on a Dyson is fantastic because it can be removed from the vacuum with ease. Dyson DC40 Dirt Cup Push the button while holding your dust cup over a trash can once it is full. All the dust and dirt you’ve vacuumed up will be released when the bottom cover opens.
Three Dyson accessories and a telescopic wand are included with the Dyson DC40 to help you keep your home spotless from top to bottom. The baseboards, ceiling, couch cushions, and under the bed can all be cleaned with the help of the dusting brush, crevice tool, and upholstery brush.
Maintenance And Service
The life and power of your vacuum are maintained if the bin is routinely emptied and the filter is carefully cleaned as needed. Should anything go wrong, the DC40 is covered by a five-year warranty and has a thorough service page with parts if you prefer to do things yourself.

How To Clean Dyson Dc40
1. Remove Dust Bin.
Take apart the DC40 Dust Collection Cyclone Assembly in order to access the filter.
2. Discard the filter after opening the cyclone.
Access the filter compartment using the button on the front of the cyclone assembly.
3. Wash Filter.
Use water without detergent that is cool. Rinse the filter and gently massage until water runs clear. Remove
excess debris.
4. Dry for 24 Hours.
Running your Dyson DC40 with wet or damp filters will damage your machine. Let your filters air-dry for at least 24 hours before replacing them.
5. Replace Filter.
Insert the filter back into the cyclone assembly and snap lid closed until you hear a positive click.
How To Clean A Dyson Filter
If you want your vacuum to operate at its best, Dyson suggests cleaning the filter once a month. A Dyson filter can be cleaned as shown here.
First, take out the vacuum cleaner’s filter, which is accessible by twisting the machine’s very top. After removing the filter, tap it gently against a trash can to allow any extra dirt to fall off while holding it in one hand by the larger plastic end.
Keep the larger end of the filter in your hand and fill the other end with warm water before using your hand to gently rub the filter and clean it. Resist the urge to add any cleaning solution or detergent.
Next, re-fill the filter with water and cover the end with one hand to prevent water leakage. Before emptying the water and shaking the filter upside down and upward until no more water drips out of it, tilt the filter horizontally and shake it so that the trapped water can wash around the filter and clear away any loose dust.
Simply set the filter out to dry in a warm location; it must be completely dry before being reinstalled in the machine. Otherwise, the vacuum may be harmed. The filter will be harmed if it is dried in a tumble dryer; instead, let it air dry.

How To Clean A Dyson Dust Cup
The way a Dyson dust cup is emptied is intended to minimize the amount of dirt that gets everywhere. The lever on Dyson cordless vacuums helps with this by quickly forcing the dust out of the bin, and the best way to keep this process as clean as possible is to wrap a garbage bag around the bin opening as you empty it.
By depressing the red button on the bin’s runner, you can remove the dust cup from the machine once it is empty. Detergents shouldn’t be used in this situation; Dyson advises only using a damp cloth to clean the dust cup. Simply allow the dust cup to dry after wiping the inside, and then click it back into position.
