The Kirby G4 Vacuum has fantastic suction, and the shampoo attachment cleans very well. The baseboards and carpet edges are both very well-achieved with the Kirby G4 vacuum.
The bags fill up fast with an amazing amount of dirt and dust, so you know it’s cleaning so much more thoroughly than other vacs. When cleaning my home’s carpets, I also use the shampoo attachment, which I adore. However, once it’s set up, it’s simple to use and moves quickly. I have to consult the instruction manual to make sure I set the parts up properly.

Maneuverability
The machine is not the simplest to operate. Because of its size, weight, and relatively high head, it is difficult to fit underneath objects.
Ease of Maintenance
It is pretty easy to change the bag and the belt when you need to.
Suction Performance
If you don’t fill the bag all the way up, the suction is fairly strong. Suction power decreases when the bag is full.
Versatility
You can purchase many attachments to go with it. The hose and any hose attachments are the only items that are actually worthwhile purchasing. I wasn’t a big fan of the carpet cleaner. Years have passed since I last used the turbo accessory kit. Seriously, who is going to sand with a vacuum and do whatever else it does—I honestly can’t remember.
Design
It is difficult to maneuver and get under objects because the head is so large and bulky.
Durability
It’s still functional after more than 17 years of ownership. The tech drive power assist doesn’t work so great now. I might need to have the Kirby vacuum repairman look at it.
Is Kirby G4 Vacuum Worth It?
Unlike many commercial rug cleaners, it does not leave the carpets drenched in water for hours at a time. Additionally, because the Kirby routinely cleans the dirt in the rugs, there is no muddy residue accumulating beneath your carpets, which is what typically occurs when using subpar vacuums and conventional carpet cleaning.
There are times when the tough stains in rugs require hand scrubbing (I typically do it after I’ve already cleaned the carpet and it’s still damp).) Then you go over the carpets again with regular vacuuming, wait a few hours for the carpets to dry, and wah-lah, you have clean, fresh carpets!
Occasionally, while shampooing the carpet, this results in blackish stripes appearing on it. It appears to originate from the vacuum, though I’m not sure if it’s the wheel. If I see them, I just manually scrub them out.
I then wash all the components in the tub because if I don’t, the moisture from the dirt and debris would dry on some of them, limiting their ability to be cleaned later or leaving more stains on the damp carpet.
What I really like is that I can shampoo my carpets much more frequently and use cleaners that are safe for the environment and have no scent. It also comes with a useful attachment for carpeted stairs.
I also use the attachments for the majority of my house dusting because they do a much better job of reaching nooks and crannies, etc. than using a cloth and just spreading dust around.
Additionally, I’ve blown up big inflatable objects and used attachments to clean the inside of my car and the driveway. It’s incredibly quick once it’s set up. (These have instructions in the manual that is provided).
