It’s easy to clean carpets and upholstery with the Bissell SpotClean Pro. The detergent tank is a little tricky to fill, and a few extra accessories would have been nice, but, small niggles aside, this is a strong cleaner that can handle the majority of stains with ease.

A full-fledged carpet cleaner wouldn’t be a wise investment for most people, but a spot cleaner for the odd spill could be helpful. One of the most effective machines I’ve tested for this purpose is the Bissell SpotClean Pro, which effortlessly removes even the toughest stains.
You can clean reasonable-sized areas with it because it has large detergent and water tanks, which eliminates the need to frequently stop and refill. However, the Bissell SpotClean Pro is noisy when in use, and the detergent tank lacks any distinct markers.
Bissell SpotClean Pro Design and Features
Like the majority of spot cleaners, the Bissell SpotClean Pro resembles a cylinder vacuum cleaner with the wheels taken off. Even though it weighs 5.9 kg and measures 356 x 360 x 250 mm, you shouldn’t have to move the cleaner around much once you’ve gotten it where you need it because the 1.5 m hose will allow you to access the areas that need cleaning.
Furthermore, a 6.5-meter power cord makes it simple to clean a respectable area without stopping to plug the vacuum cleaner in again.
Making the SpotClean Pro tidy for storage is fairly simple because the hose wraps around one side of the cleaner and clips into place, and the power cord has its own tidy.
One large brush and one small brush are included in each box from Bissell. No additional cleaning heads are provided, such as a squeegee for use on hard floors. Also unfortunate is the lack of tool storage on board.
Two sizable lift-out water tanks are present. The first is a 2.9-litre detergent tank that holds a solution of water and detergent. To help you with your initial cleans, a starter bottle is included in the box.
According to the instruction manual, the detergent tank has two fill lines: one for water and one for detergent. Unfortunately, there is only one mark on the tank itself, making it more challenging to determine how much water and cleaning agent to add. Finally, I filled the text to the top with cleaning fluid and added water to the bottom.
The detergent tank is finished and is then lowered into the main slot. The dirty water is stored in the second 3.5-liter tank at the back. Having such a large tank is convenient because you can handle both dry and wet stains without having to empty it frequently.
The tank has a mark that lets you know when it’s full. Be sure to pay close attention to this. Although there is a float inside the tank that is intended to rise and block the input when the tank is full, I discovered that it didn’t work that well, and at one point water started to leak out the side. So, for your own safety, keep an eye on the fill line and empty it when the water level reaches this point.
It’s simple to pull out the tank, remove the lid, and empty the dirty water by slipping the handle over the back. Keep this tank clean by simply giving it a wash after use. Don’t forget to clean the internal filter as well.
There is no easier way to use the SpotClean Pro. There is only one mode, so simply press the power button to turn it on. Next, squeeze the trigger handle to spray detergent on any stains and marks. To remove dirt and water, simply rub the affected area with your chosen brush.
Bissell SpotClean Pro Performance
I began by calculating the SpotClean Pro’s suction power and airflow, arriving at a figure of 96.35AW, which is more powerful than the majority of cordless vacuum cleaners.
I used a sample of carpet and two stains—dry mud and dried ketchup—to evaluate the effectiveness of the SpotClean Pro. I began with the mud stain, spritzing the area with detergent and letting it sit for a few seconds. I could see the soiled water being lifted up as the heavy brush was slowly worked over the area.
The majority of the stain was removed in less than a minute, and the remainder was lifted up by a second treatment, leaving behind perfectly clean carpet that didn’t feel overly wet. Clearly, the carpet is cleaned of dirt thanks to the strong suction at work.
It was a similar story with the ketchup stain as well. With only minimal agitation needed, one treatment was sufficient to remove the majority of the dirt. It only required one more treatment to complete the task and leave the carpet feeling reasonably dry.
Surprisingly, the strength of the spot cleaner was sufficient to remove both stains without the need for any stain pre-treatment sprays.
Conclusion: Should You Buy the Bissell SpotClean Pro?
The main rival in this price range is the battery-operated Vax ONEPWR Cordless Go. The spot cleaner from Vax is a little lighter and easier to store, and it also includes a squeegee for use on spills on hard floors. Because it isn’t as powerful as the Bissell, cleaning up messes will take more effort and agitation. Even with that said, it’s still a wise decision, especially if you already own other ONEPWR goods.
The Bissell SpotClean Pro provides more power, better performance, and the capacity to clean larger areas. You’ll value the SpotClean Pro’s quick performance and excellent cleaning if you have a few rugs to maintain, possibly carpeted stairs, and frequently stained upholstery. The SpotClean Pro does a great job cleaning relatively large areas, but you’ll probably need to invest in a full carpet cleaner to handle entire rooms.
